MONTE EPOMEO

The mountain that dominates Ischia is visible from all sides, while on the summit which houses an ancient hermitage, the view of the island and the gulf is extraordinary. From its volcanic-tectonic genesis derive the geological peculiarities such as the green tuff that have attracted travelers since the Seventeenth century.

BEACHES

From one side to the other, facing the horizon or the mainland, the island offers wide sandy beaches along its entire perimeter. Each with marked naturalistic characteristics, unique panoramas, dazzling sunrises or fiery sunsets. With equipped beaches, ideal for families with children.

FLORA

A gift from the fertile land and mild climate is the great variety of vegetation on the island, with several endemic and other rare species, native to tropical areas that grow near the fumarolic fields. Among the botanical rarities there is also an endangered plant, reintroduced only a few years ago.

FAUNA

Site of passage for migratory avifauna and paradise for various species of sedentary birds, Ischia is the only island in the gulf that still holds a rare species of toad protected internationally, because it is seriously endangered and now present in very few island sites.

TRAILS

They run through the countryside and woods, climb the heights that dot the area, connect the villages to places of still wild nature. And they reach, from various sides, the summit of Epomeo, a destination for travelers of all times. All panoramic paths, overlooking the beauty of the sea.

EXCURSION BY SEA

During the long hospitality season, between spring and summer, the sea offers itineraries of great charm, to discover the coasts of the island with bays, coves and caves, the islets of the Castle and of Sant 'Angel. And the possibility of reaching the other islands of the Neapolitan archipelago.

THE 6 MINICIPALITIES

The 46 square kilometers of the Ischia territory are historically divided, at an administrative level, between six Municipalities, all lying between the internal hilly areas and the sea. Each has a significant naturalistic, artistic-architectural, archaeological and ancient tradition heritage.

THERMAL BATHS

The largest thermal basin in Europe, son of the secondary volcanism that characterizes nature on the island, offers hot waters with very varied therapeutic properties, known since ancient times. Which have made the island famous throughout Europe since the 1600s and today feed spas and thermal parks.

"‘N coppa Santu Nicola" ("On Saint Nicolas"). This is how Ischia inhabitants have defined their mountain for centuries.

An incomprehensible geographical indication to whoever is not from the island. It cannot be found on topographic maps, starting with the oldest one by Mario Cartaro from 1588. Who, instead, made official the name with which the hill dominating the other ones would become famous to foreigners: Epomeo.
