The grapes were the first to be brought by the Greek colonists from Thessaly, Vesuvius added the fertility of the soil and the result is the great wines of these lands.
Falanghina, Coda di Volpe, Caprettone grapes, Verdesca among the whites; and, among the reds, Sciascinoso, Aglianico and Piedirosso remain the most common vines to which is added the Catalanesca (table grapes) which, as the name suggests, owes its settlement to the Spaniards. Abroad everyone knows the Lacryma Christi, which comes from the mix of all the varieties mentioned, and attributes prestige to DOC Vesuvio.
