Born of Mount Paflagone, a buttress of Mount Cervialto, in the heart of the Picentini Mountains Regional Park in Irpinia, the Sele River, at the beginning of its course, feeds the Apulian Aqueduct (Acquedotto Pugliese) in Caposele.
